What Code Officials Look For and What to Expect in 2019

Presentation will address coming important changes to the 2018 IBC code for NJ.  These changes will effect the current commercial code, barrier free issues, Com Check envelope and lighting and mechanical issues, Egress plan, use group and occupancy loads.  We will also look at what code officials look for on residential plan submissions.

Speakers:

Sal Poli, Current Construction, Building sub-code, Property Maintenance and Zoning official for the Township of Pompton Lakes and the Township of Denville. He is an HHS Fire and Single Family Mechanical Inspector for Pompton Lakes and HHS Fire Sub-code Official and Single Family Mechanical Inspector for Denville.  Sal has an Associate Degree in Uniform Construction Technology from Essex Community College and Certified Zoning Official training from Rutgers University. He is a licensed construction official, HHS Fire and Building Sub-code official and HHS, ICS and RCS building inspector.

Jeffrey R. Heis, Construction Official/Building Sub-code Official-Township of Warren.  Jeffrey is a Licensed Construction, Building Sub-code and Fire Sub-code Official as well as HHS Building, Fire Inspector and Hotel and Multiple Dwelling Inspector.  His professional affiliations include Director at Large -New Jersey Building Officials Association, Founding member of the Municipal Construction Officials Association 1999, Member of the ICC Code Council (Formally BOCA) since 1989 -  sitting on the ICC Interpretation Committee 2007-2009, ICC Egress Committee for 2012, 2015, 2018 code changes and the ICC Fire Committee for 2021 code changes. Jeffrey has taught at Middlesex County College from 2000-2010.  The instruction is for potential and licensed code officials in the areas of Building Inspector I.C.S., Building Inspector H.H.S. and Construction Official disciplines.
