What is AIA?
|The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is the voice of the a profession, dedicated to serving its members, advancing their value, andrchitecture improving the quality of the built environment. AIA is the professional organization that helps architects serve the public’s needs and builds awareness of the role of architects and architecture in American society.The organization was created in 1857. Today, with it’s national headquarters in Washington, DC, and nearly 300 local chapters, the organization represents 80,000 licensed architects and associated professionals. AIA members adhere to a Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct that assures clients, the public and colleagues of their dedication to high standards in professional practice.Allied Organizational Membership is a valued partnership between the AIA and building product manufacturers and service providers in the design and construction communities. Its key is building understanding and relationships with architects in the full range of their professional roles.Allied organizations participate fully in all Institute programs and activitites, including the Continuing Education System.
